Chopin’s Last Tour

It is October 1848. Frail, heartbroken, and in exile, Frédéric Chopin arrives in Scotland at the invitation of Lady Jane Stirling, his devoted student and unrequited admirer. A year from death, in the shadow of failing health and emotional ruin, Chopin takes to the stage one last time. Not to dazzle concert halls, but to bare his soul.
Chopin’s Last Tour is a poignant and poetic solo performance told in the form of a personal letter. Enriched with live piano performances of Chopin’s most iconic pieces, this remarkable show is written and performed by accomplished actor/pianist Phillip Aughey.
Since its premiere in Edinburgh to standing ovations, Chopin’s Last Tour has enchanted audiences across the globe with acclaimed performances in Edinburgh, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Avignon (France), London, Tallinn, New Zealand, and beyond.
On Sunday 12 April, Phillip’s performance is partnered with award winning documentary “Chopin – I Am Not Afraid of Darkness” (2022, 55 minutes). The film follows three world class pianists from very diverse backgrounds but are united in their appreciation for Chopin and the therapeutic potential of music. The film really speaks to how beautiful the arts are and the ability of music to bring people together who otherwise might be worlds apart.
If you’ve ever loved Chopin’s music, or want to discover the soul behind the notes, this is a must-see theatrical event.
