FRIDAY 6 MARCH 2026, 5:30 PM

Oberon Shakespeare Festival Feast

A feast for the senses! Enjoy a banquet inspired by the food of Elizabethan England: hearty spit roasts, loads of potatoes, an array of salads and desserts. The night features a performance by Shakespearean troupe ‘Come You Spirits’ who bring their unique perspective to a selection of pieces from Shakespeare’s canon of classic plays. In 2026 we’re focusing on love and romance – the good, the bad and the tragic.

We hope you’ll come and bring a hint of Shakespeare with you (a hat, a feather, a brooch, a quote …)

There’ll be some prizes, good food and heaps of fun.

Chopin’s Last Tour

A poignant and poetic dramatisation of the final days of Frédéric Chopin, followed by a screening of a documentary on the power of music. Enriched with live piano performances of Chopin’s most iconic pieces, this remarkable show is written and performed by actor/pianist Phillip Aughey. It is October 1848. Frail, heartbroken, and in exile, Chopin takes to the stage one last time. Not to dazzle concert halls, but to bare his soul.

The performance will be followed by award winning documentary “Chopin – I Am Not Afraid of Darkness” (2022, 55 minutes), which follows three world class pianists from very diverse backgrounds but united in their appreciation for Chopin and the therapeutic potential of music.Find out more and Get Tickets

The Malachi Lap Rug Project Exhibition

A donation of two bales of sheep’s fleece from a local farm sparked a community project at the Malachi honouring its history as a wool store and craft shop.

Headed up by Oberon U3A Creative Fibre Group, 51 wonderful fibre artists and community members began spinning, knitting, and crocheting lap rugs for our concertgoers.

Pop in to the Malachi as we celebrate their generosity and skills in a weekend exhibition showcasing the 51 beautiful creations. Entry is Free!

Howl – Riot, rapture and release

Omega Ensemble returns to the Malachi with a performance of musical defiance and untamed brilliance, uniting five leading contemporary classical voices.

You will hear a dark, cinematic piano quartet gem written with sardonic humour and manic intensity; a clarinet-led incantation of ritual and outburst; a wild work for solo violin and live electronics; a “part-string-quartet-part-rave” piece that expands the ensemble into new sonic territories, and a world premier by LA-based Daniel Wohl which fuses electronic and acoustic forces into a three-dimensional sound world.
