Country Dancehall Project

The Country Dancehall Project is keeping bushdance culture alive and kicking with a night that takes everything great about a classic Aussie bush dance and gives it a modern country kick. “Padre” John Healey will walk everyone through the classics, the Heel n Toe Polka, the Gallopede, the Hokey Pokey and a Virginia Reel with Strip the Willow, so grandparents, grandkids and everyone in between can take a turn on the floor together, wtih live music from the next wave of Aussie country talent.

Oberon Chamber Music Festival 2026

Tickets are now on sale for the fourth edition of the Oberon Chamber Music Festival this November, which brings leading Australian classical musicians to Oberon for a weekend of concerts at the Malachi and other venues in the district. The 2026 Festival Pass will give you access to all six ticketed concerts at a discount of 5%. You have a choice of great seats for the four Malachi concerts, get access to the concerts at Mayfield Garden chapel and St Barnabas church, and join the Festival Saturday Lunch gathering at the old Bank garden.

Festival Opening Gala

The fourth edition of the Oberon Chamber Music Festival kicks off with Dimity Hall (violin), James Wannan (viola), Julian Smiles (cello) and Ying Ho (piano) joining Festival Director Emma Jardine (violin) for two beloved masterpieces by Anton Dvořák and W.A. Mozart. Join the musicians in the Malachi foyer after the concert for a drink and a free slice of pizza at our popular Opening Gala after-party, and enjoy a fitting start to a weekend of beautiful chamber music with world-class musicians.

Morning Light: Harp & Strings

Back by popular demand, extraordinary French harpist Louisic Dulbecco, Principal Harp with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, returns to the Oberon Festival for an exquisite morning recital. Joined by her colleagues Emma Jardine and Dimity Hall (violins), James Wannan (viola) and Julian Smiles (cello), Louisic brings the harp to life in a program featuring Saint-Saëns, Piazzolla, Dubois, Ernie and more. A beautiful way to begin your Festival Saturday, with music full of colour, warmth and light.

The Transcendent Voice – Ashlyn Timms

After her hugely popular appearance at the 2024 Oberon Festival, mezzo-soprano Ashlyn Tymms returns to the Malachi stage. Ashlyn has established herself as one of Australia’s most exciting young artists, after taking home the top prize at the 2025 Australian Opera Awards. A Principal Artist with Opera Australia, she brings a powerful and captivating presence to this program of music for mezzo-soprano, piano and strings, with Ying Ho (piano), Dimity Hall (violin), James Wannan (viola) and Julian Smiles (cello) .

D’Amore by Candlelight – At St Barnabas

Slow down and settle in for an intimate evening of chamber music by candlelight at the beautiful St Barnabas’ church. This special late-night concert explores the warm, distinctive sound of the rarely heard viola d’amore, alongside music for cello and violin. Festival artists James Wannan (viola d’amore), Julian Smiles (cello), Dimity Hall (violin) and Emma Jardine (violin) come together for a program of solos and duos: beautiful, intimate music to listen to up close, in the gentle glow of candlelight.

Guitar In The Garden – At Mayfield

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Karin Schaupp leads this luminous morning concert in the beautiful Mayfield Garden Chapel, performing works by Paganini, Haydn and more. Karin is joined by violinist Emma Jardine, violist James Wannan and cellist Paul Ghica for a morning of exquisite chamber music in this unique setting. Your ticket includes full access to the glorious Mayfield Garden

Festival Finale – Six Strings

The Festival closes with an extraordinary ensemble of Australia’s finest chamber musicians. Acclaimed guitarist Karin Schaupp joins violinists Emma Jardine and Dimity Hall, violist James Wannan and cellist Julian Smiles for an afternoon of vibrant string chamber music. The program opens with Boccherini’s sparkling Guitar Quintet, and follows with Brahms’ magnificent String Sextet – a fitting finale to the fourth Oberon Chamber Music Festival.
