Part of the on-going restoration of the Malachi has been to address the missing and damaged vents on the internal walls of the Hall.
The original, beautifully decorated cast-iron items included a lift-up gate, but were painted over in the 1980s; some were missing their gate; and others were missing completely.
We removed one of the complete vents from the site, and took it to Central Foundry in Mascot, NSW to get a number of sand-castings made. And with the help of volunteers Richard and Arthur, we now have a complete set reinstated, and showing their bare-bones beauty.
