Clara’s Circle: The music of Clara, Fanny, Felix, Robert, and Johannes

This intimate Saturday afternoon concert is part of the Oberon Chamber Music Festival.
The program traces the artistic and personal connections between four remarkable 19th-century composers. At its heart is Clara Schumann, a celebrated pianist, composer, and muse, whose music and friendships inspired a generation. Her Three Romances sit alongside works by her husband Robert Schumann, close family friend Johannes Brahms, and fellow trailblazer Fanny Mendelssohn and her husband Felix Mendelssohn.
Performed by Emma Jardine, Tobias Breider, Rachel Siu, and Bernadette Harvey, Clara’s Circle offers a glimpse into a world where music, emotion, and deep personal ties were entwined.
Program:
Clara Schumann: Three Romances for Violin and Piano
Robert Schumann: Adagio and Allegro for Viola and Piano
Fanny Mendelssohn: Fantasie G minor for Cello and Piano
Felix Mendelssohn: Song Without Words in E flat major
Johannes Brahms: Piano Quartet in G minor
