DESCRIPTION:World-renowned Mezzo Soprano Ashlyn Tymms is joined by piano and strings to perform songs of transcendence. \nAshlyn Tymms is recognised for her powerful and emotive performances in both operatic and concert settings. Supported by the lush textures of the viola\, string quartet and piano\, this concert offers a diverse exploration of emotions and landscapes. \nAshlyn will be joined by Tobias Breider\, viola; Paul Ghica\, cello; Katherine Lukey\, violin; Emma Jardine\, violin\, and Bernadette Harvey\, piano. \nProgramme: \n\nStrauss – Morgen for piano and mezzo\nSchubert – Auflosung\nSchubert – Die junge nonne\nBrahms – 2 Gesänge for Viola and Mezzo Soprano\nSkipworth – Sanctus from Easter Mass\nMahler – ich bin der welt\nRespighi – “Il Tramonto” (The Sunset) for Mezzo Soprano and String Quartet\n\nArrive an hour early for the Meet\, Greet & Eat (MG&E) pre-concert talk by our Festival music specialist Andy Bromberger\, included in your ticket price\, and enhance your experience with a pre-purchased Morning Tea Box. \nPerth-born Ashlyn Tymms is building an impressive career in Australia and overseas. She studied in Melbourne and then at the Royal College of Music in London and has appeared in the London Handel Festival. She sang the beautiful Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music at Buckingham Palace in a performance hosted by the Prince of Wales and she toured to South Korea with the London Cello Orchestra. Ashlyn sings regularly with West Australian Opera and recently performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. \nMeet\, Greet & Eat pre-concert talk \nWith such positive feedback from last year’s festival\, Andy’s delightful and personable manner adds much joy to the concert-going experience. SUMMARY:Oberon Chamber Music Festival - TWIN CELLI
DESCRIPTION:Two beautiful double-cello quintets including an Australian Premiere by Brahms and a Schubert quintet. \nFeaturing two of Australia’s finest cellists\, Rachel Siu and Paul Ghica\, along with violinists Emma Jardine and Katherine Lukey\, and violist Tobias Breider\, this program concludes the festival with an intimate and dramatic performance. \nProgramme: \n\nBrahms: Quintet in F minor Op.34\nSchubert: String Quintet in C major D956\n\nBrahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor was originally scored for two cellos\, then destroyed by the composer and rewritten for piano and strings.
