SUMMARY:Café Latte Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:The Café Latte Orchestra was established in 2005 by Mark Walton\, a highly respected clarinet and saxophone performer\, teacher\, and music advocate. Mark invited his amateur woodwind friends to join and arranged wonderful music for them to play with parts that were a perfect match for their playing level. \nNow\, twenty years later the Café Latte Orchestra (‘the happiest orchestra in the world’) gathers two to three times a year in different locations around Australia and New Zealand to explore new repertoire and renew old friendships. There are well over 100 orchestra members\, and they choose which workshops they would like to attend. \nAfter last year’s success they are returning to the Malachi for three days of workshops and are once again putting on a special concert on Wednesday morning\, October 1st.  They will play an enchanting selection of classics and toe tapping jazzy numbers. \nThe concert will run for 45 minutes – please join us for a morning of great music\, morning tea and happiness! \nTickets $15 available at the door.

SUMMARY:Chopin's Last Tour
DESCRIPTION:It is October 1848. Frail\, heartbroken\, and in exile\, Frédéric Chopin arrives in Scotland at the invitation of Lady Jane Stirling\, his devoted student and unrequited admirer. A year from death\, in the shadow of failing health and emotional ruin\, Chopin takes to the stage one last time. Not to dazzle concert halls\, but to bare his soul. \nChopin’s Last Tour is a poignant and poetic solo performance told in the form of a personal letter. Enriched with live piano performances of Chopin’s most iconic pieces\, this remarkable show is written and performed by accomplished actor/pianist Phillip Aughey. \nSince its premiere in Edinburgh to standing ovations\, Chopin’s Last Tour has enchanted audiences across the globe with acclaimed performances in Edinburgh\, Adelaide\, Perth\, Sydney\, Melbourne\, Avignon (France)\, London\, Tallinn\, New Zealand\, and beyond. \nOn Sunday 12 April\, Phillip’s performance is partnered with award winning documentary “Chopin – I Am Not Afraid of Darkness” (2022\, 55 minutes). The film follows three world class pianists from very diverse backgrounds but are united in their appreciation for Chopin and the therapeutic potential of music. The film really speaks to how beautiful the arts are and the ability of music to bring people together who otherwise might be worlds apart. \nIf you’ve ever loved Chopin’s music\, or want to discover the soul behind the notes\, this is a must-see theatrical event. \nGet Tickets
